Flow Blue Manilla 9.5" Dinner Plate Podmore & Walker (P.W.&Co)1834-59-CRACKED - $25 - (Little River, CA)
Up for sale at half price is a rare antique 9.5-inch P.W. & Co Ironstone Flow Blue Manilla dinner plate. Normal price is $49.00, and I am offering this plate for $24.50. It's158-183 years old, according to company information found on the internet (see below). It is being sold at half price because of a crack. It's appropriate for display but not for use. (See notes in "Condition" below.) Condition: There are no chips, but there is a crack that is difficult to see on the front but shows on the back side. (Please see photos 3, 6, 11 & 12)The plate shows very little crackling in the finish despite its age. Its colors are still vibrant. Any white blotches in the photos are the result of camera flash. There are tiny stilt marks on the rim. These are a result of the firing process and are not damage. Imperfections were common in stoneware of the era, and all genuine flow blue has them. (Please see photos for details.) Company information: G. Podmore, Walker & Co. took over the Unicorn Pottery and Pinnox Works in Tunstall, Staffordshire, England, in 1834 and ran it until 1859, when the firm became Wedgwood & Co. Stoneware made during this time period bears the mark P. W. & Co. Shipping: This precious antique has been carefully wrapped and double boxed for shipping. It will be shipped by Priority Mail. International Shipping is available at additional cost.
