This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing. These wires feature an Arthur S. Burnell patent, dated June 19, 1877. This wire is called "Burnell Style Hooked Four-Point Barbs on Green Plastic Coated Line and Gray Line" by collectors. (ref. Hagemeier 146-G). This wire was found in Old Mexico. This wire featured two round twisted together steel line wires, which are twisted together. One line is coated in green plastic, and is a bit larger guage. Second line is plated in gray. Barbs are four pointed, made from two round barbing wires. Barbs are made by inserting a point of each barbing wire between the line wires, and bending the two points together. The remainder of the barbing wires are wrapped together around both line wires. Wire sample is 18-1/2" in length. It shows light age and use wear, with very light pitting. There are three barbs well spaced, and cut is well centered, There is some bending of barbing points, but no broken or missing points.. Wire is in very good used condition. This sample of barbed wire are absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve. Shipping will be $4.50, within the United States.
