"THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD #605" PASSENGER "STRIKING YELLOW PASSENGER PA1" PAINT SCHEME...........The Alco-GE PA streamlined diesel units were each powered with a 16 cylinder model 244 prime mover. The diesel engine drove a GE generator that powered axles 1, 3, 4 and 6 with GE 752 traction motors (commonly designated A1A-A1A). The result was a powerful 2,000 HP engine out producing by more than 500 HP than the EMD competition of the time. These 2000 HP streamlined diesel electrics were first delivered in 1947. Though not as numerous as the EMD E units, the PA units that were delivered by GE-Alco were popular amongst many roads. ****THIS ENGINE FEATURES dual flywheels and Athearn's smooth gear drive over (2) large trucks which give you (12) wheel pulling power, this provides power for long trains and heavy cars and Smoooooooooother operation at all speeds. ENGINE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. Couplers are included but Not yet installed, please use picture as your guide or email us with any questions. Ran briefly on test track, this engine ran well both forward and reverse.
