MODIFIED Flame Eater Vacuum Engine - 200 rpm mods - $430 - (Aguila, AZ)
I am the original owner. As stock, these can run pretty darn fast and can walk right off a table if you aren't holding it down. I like slow running engines for display. I purchased a larger bronze flywheel casting ("machine yourself") to replace the smaller stock chrome one. I also bored out the trunions for ball bearings to handle the extra weight. Both bases had to have slots milled in them for flywheel clearance. I also added a lighter spring to the valve rod. The burner pot has a non- slip base on it now and stays wherever you put it. This runs on alcohol. Base is 6 x 9 x 6" to top of flywheel. The black anodized aluminum base with radiused edges is better looking than the new painted cast bases. A day of machine shop time plus the bronze casting and ball bearings and custom spring and tuning are a value add. Yep, it is not new, just nicer than new. Manual, spare parts included. Oh, for a Youtube video look for "Modified Flame eater vacuum engine". At the video start, it sounds like there was a carpenter pounding nails in the laundry room. Just echoes. Has surprising power at the axle at higher speeds. This one can do some real work.
