Tannoy Berkeley Vintage Loudspeaker Systems (Pair) - $3,000 - (Upton, QC)
This is a pair of vintage, high-end loudspeaker systems that I bought new in 1976. Always treasured, they have been kept in perfect condition to this day. Eventhough there was not a scratch on the cabinets, these were "updated" from their oiled walnut finish some 20 years ago and are now in white oak veneer with light grey grille cloths. The original finish still lies intact underneath and could easily be restored if so desired. Otherwise the present, more contemporary finish is simply and remarkably beautiful as well as 99% perfect. Knowledgeable collectors are well aware of Berkeley's basics: HPD 385A fifteen inch, coaxial drive system; 85 RMS watts of continuous power handling capacity per unit, frequency response 35-20000 Hz ±4dB, etc. These loudspeaker systems are a joy both to hear and to behold. The woofers were professionally re-foamed a couple of years ago. Otherwise everything is stock, fully functional, and totally musical. Top-of-the-line Tannoys are legendary. Sure enough and as should be expected, this pair is amazing... Included is the original technical manual for Tannoy loudspeaker systems which came with the units, as well as a rare Tannoy brochure supplied by the dealer from whom these loudspeakers were acquired in 1976, Bleeker Stereo and T.V. Ltd. from Ottawa, Ontario. Shipping these rare, irreplaceable and heavy units (90 pounds each) is simply not considered. Local pick-up is the only option, from location close to trans-Canada highway, about 50 miles east of Montréal, Québec.
