Giant Antique Japanese Satsuma Vase, Meiji Period, very ornate, circa 1868-1875, kept in storage and resold in the 20th Century. The hemispheres include very contrasting images of colorful Warriors on one side and Geisha Ladies on the opposite, boasting lateral dragon head handles on either side. The height of this Vase is 48¼". As seen in the photos, there is great deal of ornate detail in this exquisite work of art. Owned after WWII by the family of Opera stars, Il Maestro Nicola D'Amico and his wife, the Cavaliera Ufficiale, Teresa Tirelli (known for her appearances in film and TV, especially remembered for the famous grape stomping episode scene with Lucille Ball in "I Love Lucy". The couple purchased it at auction in 1945 after the end of WWII. It has remained in the estate since Signora Tirelli's death in 1989. This item is available for local pick up only. Condition: Remarkably well preserved A Black Wooden base is included, giving the Satsuma the appearance of extra height.
