1990 40th-Anniversary Fender Telecaster # 13 - $5,000 - (Coarsegold, CA)
The first guitars produced by the Fender Custom Shop were the 300 40th-Anniversary Telecasters built in 1988 and 1989. However, the Telecaster 40th anniversary was actually in 1990. In 1990, using materials left over from the original run of 300, the Custom Shop built a few more 40th-Anniversary Telecasters and I got lucky # 13. (Not sure, but the information I've found says about 20 were built.) It has a natural finish and the top and neck are as flamey as they come.This is a great sounding Tele! We found the expected Fender Custom Shop stamp and signatures under the neck pickup when I recently had the guitar set up with coated strings (10s). I think there are signatures behind the neck heel too but I decided to not risk disturbing the finish by removing the neck. This is a rare guitar and a great player! Comes with original hard shell case which is in very good condition. Tags are missing though. I do have the original Certificate of Authenticity around here somewhere and will post a photo when I find it.
