JAPANESE STERLING & SHIBAYAMA ELEPHANT BOWL "SIGNED" HAND CRAFTED MEIJI WORK A very fine and rare Japanese sterling silver and Shibayama six elephant head center bowl. Signed. Gently compressed circular form. Six Shibayama panels. Pair of cranes under Prunus tree, a foo lion covered censor alongside butterfly handle bottle in garden, rooster head wine ewer alongside flower filled urn on pedestal, and more. Six cast elephant and drop ring handles. Atop wavy edge turned splayed feet. Three character signature under base. This rare Japanese sterling silver elephant head Shibayama center bowl is 8 1/2 inches and weighs 27 standard ounces. In fine condition. Rich sterling patina. The elephant heads and engraved work retains original detail. Lower body couple of very shallow bumps. The Shibayama perfectly retained in four panels, two remaining with very slight loss - wear upper section as shown. Massachusetts residents subject to state sales tax.
