STERLING SILVER PILL BOX / SNUFF - WW1 RED CROSS CONNECTION - $795 - (Parksville, BC)

An ornate antique sterling silver pill box with abalone and embossed decoration. This is a lovely item and has an inscription inside the lid referring to the Infirmary Red Cross Hospital in Wimborne, UK. 1916-1919. This hospital cared for injured soldiers returning from the front. The box measures approximately 2 3/4" long x 1 1/4" wide including the cabochons. It weighs about 62grams. Ironically given the two sides fighting, the box is probably German made with UK import marks. The box is in very good condition.
