Large folio, title page, table of contents and 40 sheets, many in color, comprised of 25 maps (some double page and folding) and 15 plates of seismograms on 16 sheets, many double page. The rare folio atlas volume published as part of the official investigation into the causes, location, and effects of the great San Francisco earthquake of April 18, 1906. A classic publication in the field of geology and seismology and one of the most exahaustive works published on the subject. Condition: Light shelfwear, binding strong and tight. Library call number stamped in gilt in upper left corner of front board, red leather library label above the title, also on front board, and small library bookplate on front pastedown. The atlas is otherwise clean externally and internally. With the exception of the library identifications, a near fine copy.
