16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) Autographed Naval Commission Excellent complete original 100% authentic hand signed President Abraham Lincoln autographed commission, appointing Guert Gansevoort to the position of Captain. Guert Gansevoort was a naval officer during the Mexican American War and Civil War. This commission appointing him the rank of captain, rank he held through the end of the war, including captain of the ironclad Roanoke. Commission is dated February 21st, 1863 and is hand signed by President Lincoln and Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles. Commission is in good condition and is full size with the original seal, with no damage, or paper loss.
