ENGLISH STERLING TEA KETTLE & STAND & SALVER GEORGE FOX 1868 64OZ. A very fine and rare Victorian sterling tea kettle on stand, with matching kettle salver. A re-creation of a c1735 George II design. Waldron page 317 discusses and illustrates a near identical set. Kettle salvers were made from only 1720-1750. almost never found as they were melted down, apart from the kettles. George Fox, 1868. Part of our collection for 40 years. First time offered for sale. Pumpkin fluted with period engraved arms. A muzzled horse holding anchor above shield, both kettle & salver. Hand engraved shell and scroll work. Leaf framed overhead swing handle retains original heat stops. Shell footed stand with original fixed burner. Legs united by pierced Bacchus leaf and vine panel. The kettle and stand atop matching triangular shape shell footed salver, conforming arms set in shell and scroll engraved frame. This tea kettle on stand with matching kettle salver 12 1/4 inches tall off salver and weighs 64 1/2 standard ounces. Hallmarked as shown. In very fine condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands firm on table. Retains original hand carved detail, and original burner. Mild surface wear. Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax.
