Reverse Glass Gold Leaf Bank Sign - Farm Loans Insurance - $1,299 - (Sunset, SC)
For sale is this very nice gold leaf reverse glass North Carolina bank sign. I believe this sign is from the early 20th century, when these type signs were typically made. There is some paint loss and the gold leafing is not perfect in spots. The frame approx. 2" wide and appears to be original to the sign. It is a large sign which weighs approx 21 lbs. Most of the weight is from the thick heavy glass, as the frame appears to be made from a light wood (not oak) possibly pine. Overall, the sign measures 51 1/2" x 21 1/2". There are no breaks or cracks in the glass, however there are two very small holes "drilled" in the glass just above the "F" in FARM and "S" in LOANS. I'm not sure what the purpose of these holes were. These two holes are barely noticable unless one is looking for them. I suppose they could be used for mounting but I would prefer to use the frame for mounting. Because this sign is made of glass I am listing this as a free pickup only, as I would not trust shipping this sign.Please let me know if you have questions or if I can provide any additional pictures.
