This auction is for a VERY RARE beautiful collection of 4 authentic ancient Roman bronze "Caligula Galley Nails" dated 100 BC-100 AD (more than 1900 years old). These nails have a fabulous designs with broad shield heads, sectioned and elongated grips on their undersides and beautiful patina. One is broken and incomplete, 3 are bent. They are in good condition. Measurements are approximately 1 inch to 1.5 inches in length. Found in Europe. These types of nails were found on the galleys/boats of Caligula pulled from the bottom of Lake Nemi in Italy, unfortunately the galleys were destroyed in WWII, other examples of these nails have been found on coastal lands of the Roman empire. The nails were used to attach lead shields to the bottoms of the galleys. Reference: AML NO 7350336. All my artifacts are ancient as described, and guaranteed authentic.
